Maura McCarthy
Executive Director
Maura McCarthy is a seasoned executive with a successful track record serving in a wide range of corporate, nonprofit and volunteer roles, including more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, sales, and customer service and logistics at a global Fortune 100 company. An inspirational leader with strong communication skills, Maura has a history of building high-performing, diverse teams, managing big-budget projects and implementing strategies that elevate organizations and drive results. She is also a native Spanish speaker.
She has a consistent track record of success based on a collaborative leadership style, strong relationship development skills and a proven ability to effectively lead organizations during periods of dramatic change. Maura has held executive sales and non-profit positions in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
Maura is most proud of her work in the Dominican Republic with the Peace Corps and Medical Aid for Children of Latin America. Here she helped provide access to surgery for children with cleft palate and other facial differences, and healthcare and education to students with hearing impairment and their families.
These experiences and her community development work on HIV prevention in awareness in the Dominican Republic have given her a deep appreciation for how to best serve and empower under-resourced communities.
Most recently Maura has been a member of the Board of Directors of both Waukegan to College (IL) and Urban Autism Solutions. She has previously been involved with the Red Cross (NJ) and St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Society (NJ).
Maura holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration from Rutgers University, NJ and a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Binghamton University, NY.
