Students from Al Raby high school working at Growing Solutions Farm were featured in an ABC7 Chicago news 'Chicago Proud' segment.
The students have been getting paid for their work at the farm through the One Summer Chicago jobs program. As they work at the farm planting, harvesting weeding and preparing produce for sale at the on-site farm stand, they have a chance to practice social and communication skills. These life skills are important not only at work, but at home and in the community as students transition out of high school and become adults.
Urban Autism Solutions executive director Heather M. Tarczan, Al Raby teacher Matt Wendell and students Davarreon and Shavaren were interviewed for the segment.
